In 1899 Francisco Sangrá Avellá was the first importer of sanitary ware from England and Holland for distribution in Barcelona. In 1901 he founded the Sangrá company. It was the first company in Spain to be involved in the manufacture and marketing of sanitary ceramics. Its principles were to offer the highest quality and the best service, and it has always been a point of reference. American Standard, one of the world's largest sanitaryware manufacturers, bought the company in 2003. The factory was finally closed in 2007. Today, the original toilet seats are no longer in production, but there are compatible models available that are perfectly suited to the toilet and are made from high quality materials.
